Privacy Policy
What we collect, why, who helps us process it, and how to get it deleted.
1. Who is responsible
The Service is operated by HitzScore, a sole proprietorship based in Los Angeles County, California, United States (“HitzScore”, “we”). Privacy questions and requests: support@hitzscore.com.

We do not ask for your real name, address or phone number to use the Service. If you buy something, Stripe collects what it needs to process the payment under its own privacy policy, and shares with us only your email, what you bought and the last four digits of the card.
3. How we use it
To run the Service: sign you in, grade your songs, show and keep your results, manage your credits, answer your messages and keep the site safe. We also look at grades in aggregate – for example the average score of all songs in a decade – to improve the grading and the Billboard comparisons; those statistics do not identify you.
We do not sell personal information, do not share it with advertisers, and do not use your songs or lyrics to train AI models.
4. Who processes data for us
Like every small online service, we rely on specialist providers. Each receives only what it needs, under its own privacy terms:

Google and OpenAI process the audio and lyrics to return a result and, under the API terms we use, do not use that content to train their models. All providers are based in the United States; your data is stored in the US.
5. How long we keep it
- Audio files: not kept. They exist only while a grade is being produced.
- Grades, lyrics and account data: for as long as your account exists.
- Purchase records: seven years, as tax and accounting rules require, even after an account is closed.
- Contact-form messages: up to two years.
- Technical logs: up to 90 days.
6. Your choices and rights
Email support@hitzscore.com from the address on your account and we will, within 30 days:
- send you a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- correct it;
- delete your account and all your grades and lyrics (purchase records are kept as the law requires);
- hide individual grades on request, or you can do so yourself from My Results.
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you the right to know, delete and correct your information, and the right not to be discriminated against for using those rights. We do not sell or “share” personal information as those words are defined in that law, so there is nothing to opt out of. We honour browser Global Privacy Control signals.
If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, our legal bases are: performance of our contract with you (running the Service), our legitimate interests (security, improving the grading) and your consent where we ask for it. You may complain to your local data-protection authority.
7. Cookies
HitzScore uses only what is needed to keep you signed in – a token stored in your browser – and the hosting provider’s technical cookies. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not run third-party analytics on the site.
8. Children
The Service is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information. Members aged 13–17 need a parent’s or guardian’s permission. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, email us and we will delete it.
9. Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, passwords are stored only as one-way hashes by our sign-in provider, so nobody – including us – can read them, and access to member data is restricted to the site owner and the systems that run the Service. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting you we will tell you as the law requires.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. If a change matters we will post a notice on the site or email you before it takes effect.
